Port Barre Police are investigating a home burglary in which several items were stolen.

Police say they are currently investigating that burglary which occurred at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. They are now asking for the public’s help to identify the person or persons responsible.

In this burglary police report that game stations, phones and guns were stolen. All the items except the phones were able to be recovered. Those items were found in a wooded area near the home.

Port Barre Police Chief Deon Boudreaux says that the burglary happened in a densely populated area but no witnesses have come forward.

Boudreaux says that his department along with the  St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office have connected this burglary to another home burglary on Bear Road.  That home is outside of Port Barre town limits but close to Hazel Street.

They suspect both burglaries were done by the same criminals.

If anyone has information leading to the identity of the criminals responsible for these crimes, please contact the Port Barre Police Department or St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office
