Crowley has elected a new mayor. With all 15 precincts reporting, Tim Monceaux has 57.97% of the vote against Ezora Proctor, who has pulled in 42% of the vote. Current mayor Greg Jones is retiring.

Ryan “Spanky” Meche has been elected mayor of Church Point, with 59 percent of the vote. Gene Malbrough pulled in 41 percent.

Dale Thibodeaux has been elected Church Point Chief of Police, with 68 percent of the vote. Leon Thibodeaux brought in 32 percent.

Voters in the Sixth Ward and Crowley approved the renewal of a five-mill tax that pays for drainage. The tax will continue for 10 years, raising about $404,000 annually.

Voters in Fire Protection District No. 5 extended and rededicated a 4.79 mill tax that will raise about $92,000 annually for the next 10 years. The proceeds are being rededicated to construction of fire and emergency facilities, and to obtaining water for fire protection.  It passed with nearly 87% of the vote.

Voters refused to continue the 2.15-mill tax to support the cooperative extension service and multi-purpose buildings. The tax raises about $819,000 annually.
