Four arrested in string of ‘grab and dash’ thefts in Lafayette

Lafayette Police have arrested four people in connection with an organized retail theft investigation.

Police say the group has managed in recent months to steal over $13,000 in goods from retail stores around the Lafayette area. The suspects, according to police, would post the stolen items online and on social media accounts for sale.

Police say during a recent theft attempt, one of the suspects allegedly used pepper spray on a store employee who was trying to prevent the theft.

The following suspects were arrested in connection with the investigation

Precious Landry, 18, of Breaux Bridge was booked on charges of 1 count Felony Theft, 1 count Misdemeanor Theft and Aggravated Battery with Dangerous Weapon.

Candice Batiste, 27, of Lafayette was booked on charges of 1 count Felony theft.

Marshell Ward, 17, of Carencro was booked on charges of 1 count of Felony Theft and Misrepresentation during booking.

Also arrested and booked on a charge of  1 count Felony Theft was a 16-year-old male from Lafayette.

Other theft charges are currently pending for all four suspects.
