Funeral arrangements have been set for Jenelle Chargois. Visitation will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary on Friday, November 16th beginning at 7:00 am. A mass will follow at 11:00 am.
Chargois is known for her community service and as KJCB’s general manager and radio personality. Chargois is also the former president of the Lafayette chapter of the NAACP, one of the co-founders of the Greater Southwest Black Chamber of Commerce, and started Lafayette’s first Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. parade and African-American History Parade.
Chargois will be honored this Thursday at one of the many events that she started, Senior Citizen Appreciation Day. Since its inception 25-years ago, the event has served over 15,000 Thanksgiving lunches free of charge to attendees.
Janelle Chargois was 68.
