Honduran man arrested, accused of rape at Lake Charles motel

A Honduran man has been arrested in Lake Charles accused of raping a person at a local motel.

Officials say that on Saturday, September 29th, 2018, Lake Charles Police responded to an alleged rape at a local motel.  Upon arriving, officers located the victim, who was then transported to a local hospital.

During the course of the officer’s investigation, it was determined that the suspect, had been captured on the hotels video surveillance system.  Upon reviewing the video, witnesses identified the suspect as one of the guests staying at the motel.  Investigating officers made contact with the individual, motel employees identified this individual as the suspect in the surveillance video, he was placed under arrest at the scene by officers.

After further investigation, it was revealed that the person arrested was not the suspect in the rape investigation. That person was released from police custody.

According to police, a different person was developed as a suspect.  It was determined that the suspect identified as Osman Alvarado-Martinez worked in the Lake Charles area.

Through additional evidence and interviews, Martinez was found to be the suspect responsible for this crime, according to police. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Corrections facility on the charge of third-degree rape.

His bond has been set at $250,000 by Judge Davis.  Martinez is also being held on a Federal Immigration Detainer as an illegal immigrant from Honduras.
