SLEMCO spokeswoman Mary Laurent says about 10,000 customers in the Broussard and Youngsville area were without power this morning after the lightning arrester failed.
The outage lasted for about an hour.
A lightning arrester is a device designed to protect equipment from being damaged by lightning strikes.
