The lawyer for Vermilion Parish Schools Superintendent Jerome Puyau is warning the school board of potential legal troubles after the board placed the superintendent on administrative leave in August.

Attorney Lane Roy sent a letter to each of the eight school board members today.

In the letter, Roy writes he’s considering suing the board for damages and filing a federal RICO suit for violation of the law by public officials.

He further states the board does not have “substantive reasons” to remove Puyau from office.

The letter also claims the board’s decision to ban Puyau from school board property while he’s on leave is “illegal.”
