LPSO seizes over $850K in illegal narcotics

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office says that detectives uncovered a large number of illegal narcotics while investigating a shooting in the 300 block of Rue Septembre in Scott on September 10.

Deputies say that the victim of the shooting, Jermaine Savoy, was in possession of the narcotics at the time of the shooting.

The drugs, according to LPSO, were valued at over $850,000.

Warrants for Savoy have been issued for Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA, Synthetic Marijuana, Crack Cocaine and Promethazine/Codeine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Monies Derived from Drug Proceeds, Illegal Carry of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances and Controlled Dangerous Substances in the Presence of a Juvenile (7cts).

Another person, identified as Ushema Ryan, is also being charged in connection with the incident.  Warrants for Ryan have been issued on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA, Synthetic Marijuana, Crack Cocaine and Promethazine/Codeine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Monies Derived from Drug Proceeds, Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances and Controlled Dangerous Substances in the Presence of a Juvenile (7cts).

Detectives say they located, recovered and processed the following items from the scene along with $3,615 in U.S. currency:

Crack Cocaine Approx. 8.7 grams DEA Street Value: $870.00

Synthetic Bath Salts Approx. 866.3 grams DEA street value: $173,260.00

MDMA Approx. 9,046 pills DEA Street Value: $271,380.00

Promethazine Syrup Approx. 5,104 ML DEA Street Value: $51,040.00

The investigation into the shooting incident is still ongoing. The two suspects have not yet been arrested according to LPSO.
