A local restaurant is getting some national attention in an upcoming show on the Cooking Channel.

Café Vermilionville in Lafayette says it will be featured on Monday, September 17, 2018, in an episode of Southern and Hungry. The show stars culinary personality Damaris Phillips and NASCAR personality Rutledge Wood. The two travel through the south, stopping at different locations, highlighting memorable dishes along the way.

On Monday, the duo will feature Cafe Vermilionville on their show, and tasting a few signature dishes from the restaurant.  Owner Andrea Veron says that they prepared turtle soup,  pork chop with sweet potato, andouille hash with blackberry demi-glace, and pecan pie for Monday’s episode. It is unclear which dishes will be featured.

The owners of Cafe Vermilionville say that they were approached about three months ago to be featured on the show. Filming on location lasted three days.

“It was unbelievable the amount of work and execution it took for them to pull it off. We were featured a few years ago on another cooking channel show, but I don’t remember the crew being so large. The behind-the-scenes action was so robust. It was a blast!” Veron said of the production.

Monday night’s episode will air on the Cooking Channel at 8:00 pm.
