Nearly 3 dozen rescued horses are missing in Vernon Parish.

According to a post on the Freedom Reins Ranch & Rescue Facebook page, 32 horses rescued over the last two months vanished from the group’s property sometime between 7:00 pm Wednesday night and 5:00 pm on Thursday.

The group says that every gate to the property where the horses were housed was open including a padlocked entrance gate.

The ranch relocates horses affected by the Army’s roundup of feral horses around Fort Polk. According to Freedom Reins, many of the missing horses already had homes lined up. They are asking anyone with information to contact the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-238-1311.
