Abbeville Police conduct alcohol sting

Abbeville Police conducted a sting last week and cited several people for selling alcohol to minors.

Chief Bill Spearman says he plans to continue these types of operations.

People younger than 21 years of age, working with police and Alcohol Tobacco Control and the Vermilion Parish Narcotics Task Force, tried to buy booze from businesses and clubs in Abbeville.

Cited were:

U-Pak-It: The business received a warning, and an employee was cited for unlawful sale of alcohol to a person under 21.

Circle K: The business received a warning, and the employee was cited.

The Concorde Club: The business was cited by ATC and employees were cited for two counts unlawful sale. Several patrons of the club were cited for possession of alcohol by someone younger than 21, and open container.

Nunia’s Lounge: The business was given a warning, and an employee was cited for two counts unlawful sale. In this case, the bartender, Brittany Dartez, was arrested on outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court. Officers allegedly found drugs on her, and booked her with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of drug laws.
