The future of the Lafayette City-Parish Council is now in the hands of voters.
After holding six town halls, the Lafayette Council finally voted on an amendment to split the council into two five-member councils.
The final vote was 7-2 just after 11:00 pm. Voters will see this amendment on the December ballot, where the public will make a final decision.
