State police are searching for the driver of an SUV in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Jeanerette Friday night.
Jeanerette City Marshal Fernest "Pac-Man" Martin is identifying the deceased as 65-year-old Elton Dejean.
Dejean was hit at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Baker Street at 10:20 p.m.
Police are searching for light-colored ’99-’02 SUV. With the help of surveillance footage, officers were able to narrow down the search.
The Jeanerette City Marshal’s Office contacted Louisiana State Police to work the investigation.
