Vermilionville is helping teachers prepare for the upcoming school year.
Teachers attended Mangé: A Celebration of Foodways today in Lafayette where they learned about culturally relevant food and how it came about.
They also learned about new ways to engage with their students.
"All of these teachers are here voluntarily. This is not a mandatory training. They’re not being paid to be here. They are just wonderful role models of lifelong learning, and they’re doing it for themselves and their students," said Vermilionville education coordinator Melanie Harrington.
