The Morgan City Police department is warning residents of a potential debit card scam that is targeting banks in the area. Police say that victims of the scam will receive a text message from a number asking them to place a call to reactivate their debit card. Police advise that this message is a scam and that no bank will ask for debit or credit card information via text message.Those who receive the message are encouraged to call their local bank with any questions about the messages in regard to their account. The police department says that any suspicious activity should be reported to the Morgan City Police Department at 985-380-4605.
