An Opelousas native and TV star is back in Acadiana to motivate children to follow their dreams.

He has set up a kids camp, and he’s getting some help from fellow celebrities.

"Camp Carlton is all about inspiring kids in Opelousas and letting them know that they can leave the state and do many different things. You don’t necessarily have to be a basketball player or a doctor. You can be on television. You can be a real estate agent. You can go to the army. You can be a teacher," said camp founder Carlton Morton.

Morton knows first-hand that all goals are obtainable.

"I work on the show "Real Housewives of Atlanta" with supermodel Cynthia Bailey who is in the cast. I’m her assistant on the show," said Morton.

Returning to his roots, Morton is sharing lessons through experiences and bringing in other Opelousas natives who’ve gone on to accomplish great things like Brianna Hunter.

She won a Louisiana model search last summer and has gone on to become a full-time model.

"They’re just really excited to see someone from their area doing good things with their life, being successful," said Brianna Hunter.

From strutting the catwalk to getting down on the dance floor.

"We get to do our own dance moves that we made up, and we get to dance and show everybody our cool moves and let them try," said Opelousas 6-year-old Taylor Lazard.

Camp Carlton has been a highlight of their summer.

"Because we don’t have to stay in the house all day, we get to have fun," said Baton Rouge 7-year-old Quentin Jamare.

"And, this is like ten times better than watching YouTube," said Leonville 9-year-old Brianna Deville.
