Crowley Police say they have arrested a suspect in connection with the homicide which happened over the weekend.

During the investigation, detectives say they received multiple tips that the suspect, Ronald James Pomier, was noticed to be extremely nervous by people and even mentioned to others that he had just shot and possibly killed someone. A release states that several witnesses described the suspect as being a black male, short, and overweight.

Officers say the incident occurred in the 500 block of W. 2nd Street where police responded to shots being fired in the parking lot. A man was found suffering from a single gunshot wound. He later died at a hospital.

While responding, officers say multiple vehicles fled the area at a high rate of speed.

Police say that witnesses reviewed a lineup and were able to pick out Pomier as being the shooter. The witness also advised that the Pomier allegedly approached a group of people fighting with the victim, and then shot the victim in the head.

Pomier was taken to the Acadia Parish Jail after being questioned and charged with second-degree murder.
