State police investigating officer-involved shooting in Baton Rouge

Louisiana State Police say they are currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred after a traffic stop in Baton Rouge.

State Police say that the incident occurred around 3:00 am on Perkins Road after a trooper pulled over a driver for allegedly committing a traffic violation. LSP says that during the stop a passenger in the vehicle became non-compliant which caused the trooper to fire his gun. The driver and another passenger in the vehicle fled the scene, according to State Police. A third passenger in the vehicle was arrested

According to State Police, the trooper received minor injuries during the incident. The non-compliant passenger received a gunshot wound and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The names of the trooper and driver were not released. An investigation is currently being conducted by the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations.
