Tuesday night, the Crowley City Council voted to give firefighters a raise.
The vote Tuesday was to increase firefighters’ base pay to $2,100 a month. That pay raise is under the $2,500 amount that firefighters were hoping to receive.
Officials with the fire department, however, say they are still happy with the raise.
"We all were happy, we usually normally get a mandatory 2 percent pay raise and this pay raise came out to be a 12 percent on the base so I’m pretty excited about that," said Crowley Fire Chief Jody Viator.
