Lafayette Deputy surprised with new roof

Posted

Lafayette Roofing & General Contractors surprised a Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s deputy with a free roof today.

The company decided to honor a local law enforcement officer with a free roof.

"We understand the importance of having a solid roof over your head as it protects everything below. Also, we know the financial burden it could be. With everything going on with police these days, It is essential to show people how important our boys in blue are to this community," a statement from the company reads.

The officer selected was Deputy Matthew Meginley. His nomiantor said he has worked with Meginley for some years.

‘I can genuinely say that he serves from a true place of sense of duty. I believe that’s demonstrated in Matthew that he served honorably in the United States Army as well. Someone doesn’t devote serving others almost half their life by whim," wrote Clyde R. Kerr III. "There’s no greater call than to put someone else’s interest, well being & safety before your own. I nominate Matthew because I truly can think of no one more deserving to be gifted with such tangible show of respect towards our Law Enforcement community here in Acadiana."

Meginley said winning a new roof was a a big relief.

"In our jobs sometimes we have hardships just like anyone else would, but the fact that we don’t have to work any extra nights and weekends or at least so I don’t have to work any extra nights and weekends to pay for a new roof its a huge relief, a huge weight off my shoulders," Meginley said.
