Current and former Franklin police officers lined up in their units, sounding their sirens, as they bid farewell to former Chief of Police Sabria McGuire.

McGuire announced her resignation last Wednesday, which took effect yesterday.

The police department staff first treated McGuire to lunch and later surprised her at her home with a bouquet of roses.

In McGuire’s letter of resignation addressed to Mayor Raymond Harris, Jr., she wrote, "It’s been a pleasure serving as the chief of police for over 20 years. I can’t say that I ever didn’t want to get up to go do my job. It wasn’t about the money. It was about serving my community."

Captain Tina Thibodaux is now serving as interim chief.
