Witnesses say it took almost an hour before an ambulance reached a scene where a tree fell on three children at an Opelousas birthday party. A relative ended up driving the children to a hospital and now the family is asking why it took the first responders so long to come to their rescue.

St. Landry Parish Communications District didn’t want to hand over public records of the 9-1-1 call in question. They did say Acadian Ambulance was responsible for getting there on time.

Acadian Ambulance says their units in the area were already responding to calls and within minutes called for St. Landry EMS to take over.

We reached back out to St. Landry EMS today but haven’t heard back from them as of 6 o’clock. Sunday, they said they had no record of an ambulance being called, even though witnesses say it was St. Landry EMS who eventually showed up.

We are still waiting on 911 records from St. Landry Parish Communications District.
