A 27-year-old Iowa man is accused of attempted murder after an argument in a car led to a shooting.

Jeff Davis Parish Deputies responded to a complaint of shots being fired Thursday night in the area of Abbie Fontenot Road and Highway 165. Deputies, with the assistance from officers with the Fenton Police Department and Iowa Police Department, located the suspect, Cartez Pickett, and the victim, according to
Commander Ramby Cormier, spokeswoman for the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say witnesses saw Pickett fire several shots from a handgun at the victim as she ran down the road. Pickett and the woman were allegedly involved in a verbal argument inside a vehicle as they were driving down Abbie Fontenot Road. The victim was not injured, stated the spokeswoman.

Cartez Pickett was arrested on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.

No bond has been set at the time.
