The Lafayette Fire Department is hosting a meeting next week for teens interested in becoming a firefighter or first responder.
The event will be held June 5 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Lafayette Fire Training Center, 300 Dugas Road in Lafayette.
People ages 14 through 18 years are invited to come to learn about becoming a firefighter or first responder.
Topics on the agenda include Explorer membership requirements, details about activities and meetings. The Explorer program allows members to get hands-on fire fighting experience including:fire truck operations, vehicle extraction, fire supression, incident command operation and emergency medical response.
