The Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association is looking at ways to keep the Vermilion River safe for everyone.
Thursday, the group along with the Bayou Vermilion District, DEQ, and Teche Verm Freshwater District, held a State of the River meeting. Officials say this meeting is for the community and will give an update on river initiatives including recreational opportunities and what the water quality is today compared to the past.
BVPA says they work with other groups to keep up with the state of the river in terms of recreational opportunities, water quality, and water sampling, and litter control among others.
The public was invited to attend.
