Arrest made in Ville Platte shooting death

Ville Platte Police have arrested a local man in connection with a Sunday shooting death in the city.

Darius Armondo Arvie, 24, was booked with second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. No bond has been set so far for his release. 

Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue also identified the victim as Holden Ardoin, 30, also of Ville Platte. 

Police found Ardoin dead Sunday morning, suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest. He was found in the front yard of a Demourelle Street home in Ville Platte, the chief said. 

Witnesses told police that a gunshot was heard at about 2:40 a.m., but nobody found the body until 7:20 a.m. One resident who heard the gunshot looked out his window and saw several men in the yard and on the road, who got into a vehicle and drove away.
