The St. Martinville students who died in a recent car crash are being honored with a balloon release.

Students gathered at the school’s football field Tuesday, to send their school colors floating into the sky.

On Friday, May 18, 2018, Kenneth J. Eaglin II and one of his passengers, Dajanee Olivier, both 18-years-old, died. The driver of another car involved in the crash, Latricia Savoy, was also killed. The crash occurred on LA 96 about two miles from the school.

School officials say they wanted to help parents and students come together during this time offering a place of comfort.

"We are a family and when we lose a family member, we gather to support each other to get through that," says St. Martinville Principal Kevin Dugas.
