A Texas man was arrested Saturday for allegedly leading authorities on a pursuit for more than half an hour through Calcasieu Parish.
Shortly after noon yesterday, 26-year-old Travis Salvador Chavira of Victoria, Texas, was traveling on I-10 East, west of Sulphur, when a trooper tried to pull him over for allegedly committing a traffic violation.
A spokesperson for Troop D says Chavira refused to stop, leading troopers on a pursuit for 33 minutes through Sulphur and Vinton before spike strips stopped him.
Chavira was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center for speeding, flight from an officer, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, driving under suspension, false accounting, and resisting an officer.
One trooper received minor injuries as a result of the incident and was treated at a local hospital.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Sulphur Police Department, and Vinton Police Department assisted with the pursuit.
