The Opelousas Police Department is asking for assistance in locating two individuals wanted in connection with an alleged early morning shooting in Opelousas.

Police say that 28-year-old Derek Thomas and 30-year-old Patrick Lewis are wanted for attempted murder in connection with an alleged shooting that occurred at 2:30 am on May 3 in the 1300 block of Mouton Street in Opelousas.

Upon arrival to the scene, police say they learned that a female victim had been shot and severely wounded. Investigators say the shooting occurred due to alleged illegal narcotics activity.

Warrants were obtained for the two suspects who police say are brothers. Police say the two were last seen driving a black BMW SUV with a dent on its front passenger side. The two are believed by police to be in the Lafayette area. They should be considered armed and dangerous
