ST. MARTIN PARISH
Voters in St. Martinville selected a new mayor Saturday night.
Melinda "Mel" Narcisse Mitchell defeated incumbent Thomas Nelson in a run-off for the mayor’s post, 54 percent to 46 percent with 100 percent reporting.
And in Council District 4, voters selected a council member. Juma Johnston won the seat with 65 percent of the vote, compared to Janise Anthony with 35 percent of the vote, with 100 percent reporting.
