A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Leeward J. Credeur.

Credeur, who was 78, died Friday.

Credeur was a Major with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office who retired after 32 years of service. He also worked for the Lafayette City Marshal’s Office for two years and was in charge of security for many years at Acadiana High School football games.

Credeur was known as someone who went out of his way to help others and opened his home to those in need and was a very charitable man. He enjoyed camping, watching sports, traveling, especially cruises. He loved his yard to look good. With the help of his good friend, Joe Forestier, who was like a brother to him, he kept his yard looking immaculate.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary C. Credeur; two daughters, Deborah Fabacher and husband, Barry and Rebecca Galloway; three grandsons, Christopher Stevens, Thomas Galloway and Matthew Fabacher; one sister, Dolores Benoit and husband, Tommy; four godchildren, Carl Wayne LeBlanc, Mark LeBlanc, Donna Owens and Scotty Benoit as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home – Scott on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM. A Rosary will be recited in the funeral home on Monday at 6:00PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 6:30PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 9:00AM until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be members of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Honor Guard accompanied by Sheriff Mark Garber and Lt. Col. Carlos Stutes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Former Sheriff Don Breaux and his wife, Belle.

Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
