UPDATE: Police in Breaux Bridge are still investigating a crash involving a pedestrian on Grand Point Hwy, but say the victim is expected to recover.
Assistant Police Chief Terry Latiolais says the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle along Grand Point Highway sometime in the 9:00 pm hour Tuesday. That person was airlifted to the hospital and is believed to have sustained serious injuries; today Latiolais said he was listed in serious condition, but family members say he is expected to live.
A witness at the scene tells KATC that the person hit was crawling on the roadway when they were hit and don’t believe the driver saw them there. Police have not confirmed this information.
The crash happened near Grand Point Highway’s intersection with Elise-D. The driver of the vehicle has not been cited at this time, according to Latiolais.
