Rapides Parish Sheriff’s deputies have accused the mother of a two-year-old child and her boyfriend of physical abuse, and accused the child’s babysitter for sexually abusing the child.

Nicole Cash, 25, and her boyfriend Jonathan Pace, 31, both of Boyce, were each booked with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile, criminal conspiracy and obstruction of justice. They each posted $7,000 bond and were released.

The child’s babysitter, who is a juvenile, was booked with sexual battery.

The investigation began last week, when deputies were called to a local hospital when the child was brought in for several injuries, a spokesman said. Detectives say the mother and her boyfriend, who allegedly were responsible for the injuries, conspired to mislead investigators as to how the injuries occurred. Detectives also found that the child’s babysitter allegedly committed a sexual battery on the child.

Both investigations are continuing.
