Cardiovascular Institute of the South and Lafayette General will present their 17th annual Bystander CPR Training event on Saturday, April 21.

The "Be a Heartstarter" event will be held at Blackham Coliseum in two separate sessions beginning at 8:00 am and 10:30 am.

The event is free and organizers say it will offer Bystander CPR training for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The sessions will feature hands-on CPR training for adult and infant/child victims, how to use an automated external defibrillator, and how to help someone who is choking. Electrophysiologist Dr. Marc Saad will serve as the event’s Medical Director.

Those interested can pre-register online at beaheartstarter.org. Those who participate will receive a t-shirt and a participation certificate.
