Grand jury indicts new suspect in Ville Platte woman’s murder

Posted

A grand jury on Wednesday indicted a Ville Platte man in the murder of Kathy Weston.

Robert Marquez Wilson faces a charge of second-degree murder in the case, in which prosecutors most recently offered $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Wilson is the older brother of Tiberrious Wilson, who until February had been held since the April 2017 slaying on a $1.4 million for second-degree murder and other charges related to the crime.

District Attorney Trent Brignac said on Thursday that new witness testimony led the elder Wilson’s indictment, although he has not yet been located for arrest.

Brignac said charges against Tiberrious Wilson in relation to Weston’s murder are set for dismissal at or by his upcoming May 3 court date.

Weston, 46, died when someone opened fire as she walked to a store near the corner of Chaitaignier and Jackson streets.
