Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge is building a new building for their children’s hospital.

The children’s hospital treats patients from every parish in the state, and more than 2,000 patients from Lafayette each year.

One of those patients, three-year-old Henry Ferick, was diagnosed with severe asthma. He’s able to get a specialized doctor, a pediatric pulmonologist, to see him when it’s needed.

Ferick and his family say they’re very grateful for the expansion.

"You know we just have to take everything week by week, day by day," said Mollie Ferick, Henry’s mom. "Some weeks are great, some weeks we’re at the doctors a lot, but now we have an action plan and we feel like we know what to do."

Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge is one of only eight affiliate hospitals of St. Jude in the country.
