The holidays are right around the corner, which means it’s almost time for winter treats, like Advent calendars, hot cocoa and candy canes. Typically, candy canes are peppermint-flavored, but these days, a more bizarre option is available: instant mac and cheese-flavored candy canes.
Mac and cheese-flavored candy canes are sold by Seattle-based novelty store Archie McPhee, and they’re striped yellow and white instead of the traditional red and white. You can snag a set of six for $6.50.
These unique candies certainly aren’t for everyone, but they might hit the spot for true mac and cheese fanatics.
“Macaroni and Cheese Candy Canes are a particular favorite of picky eaters,” reads the product description. “It’s like comfort food-flavored comfort food! Macaroni and cheese has become a holiday family tradition in many parts of the country, so why not let our holiday candy reflect that?”
I can see these candy canes being a hit with the preschool set, and they would also make for an interesting stocking stuffer. Although the yellow color might tip someone off that it won’t taste like a traditional candy cane, they probably won’t guess that they’re about to taste a bowl of mac and cheese.
Instagrammer @junkfoodmom gave the wacky canes a try, and she said they “weren’t bad.” She noted in her caption that she has also tried Archie McPhee’s rotisserie chicken flavor.
The company’s other out-there candy cane flavors include bacon, pickle, Bah, Humbug! (which they claim is flavorless as well as colorless) and Clamdy (clam-flavored).
In recent years, they have also added pizza-flavored candy canes and canes that taste like ketchup, for any mega-fans of the tomato-based condiment.
If candy canes just aren’t your thing, Archie McPhee also offers other adventurous-sounding candy, such as kale candy, lobster candy and vegetable candy.
Those all certainly sound interesting! Would you try out any of these crazy candies?
