The most unexpected story to come out of New York Fashion Week is the debut of KFC Crocs. On Feb. 11, shoe brand Crocs and fast-food giant Kentucky Fried Chickenrevealed their new collaboration when artist Me Love Me A Lot (MLMA) rocked a pair of platform Crocs with chicken-scented Jibbitz drumstick charms on top.

The wacky clogs also feature KFC’s signature red-and-white bucket stripes as well as images of fried chicken. Despite the enticing look and smell, no part of the shoes is edible.

When the shoes come out of the fryer, I have to admit it’s a bit unnerving!

Check out this sight to behold in the video tweeted out by KFC:

The official website for the shoes encourages people to put the footwear on their “bucket list.”

“Covered in a fried chicken print and a striped base, these will make your dreams of wearing a bucket of chicken finally come true,” reads the site.

There are two versions of the shoe. The one in the video above is an avant-garde, sky-high platform style called the Kentucky Fried Chicken X Crocs Bucket Clog debuted by Korean rapper and fashion icon MLMA. It won’t be available to the regular public. The other is the Kentucky Fried Chicken X Crocs Classic Clog, and this is the one that will be available to buy.

And yes, the two Jibbitz drumstick charms that come with the shoes are removable!

The site does not indicate a date when the shoes will be available for purchase but reiterates that it will be sometime in Spring 2020. A pair will be priced at $59.99 and available in unisex sizes. You can enter your email address to receive updates about the KFC x Crocs collaboration.

Crocs also tweeted out an announcement about the shoes, dubbing them “deep-fried fashion”:

“As Crocs continues to create new, unexpected brand collaborations, we’re thrilled with this ‘bucket list’ partnership with Kentucky Fried Chicken that will bring fans an unbelievably fun and fashionable take on our classic clog,” Terence Reilly, Crocs senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said in apress release. “We’re honored to feature this fashion-forward style between two iconic American brands at one of New York’s biggest weeks in fashion that promises to surprise and delight consumers around the globe.”

Indeed, this is not the first zany collaboration Crocs has come up with. In 2017, Balenciagadebuted platform Crocs at Paris Fashion Week.

Crocs are already a super-divisive footwear choice, so I’m guessing these new chicken-themed shoes will be even more controversial. Would you dare to wear a pair?
