The biggest sports day of the year is almost here! If you’re planning to host a party for the Super Bowl on Sunday, but either you or your friends are following a low-carb, keto lifestyle, you may be stressing a little about what to serve. Fortunately, we’ve found some helpful hints and even a tech hack to help you put on the best party ever with delicious, keto-friendly options that everyone will love!
If you have access to an Amazon device with virtual assistant Alexa, then you’ll want to try out the brand new tool available to help get your big game menu started. Amazon, in conjunction with Atkins, launched the Atkins Party Planner skill to share crave-worthy, low-carb menus for game parties.
Accessing the Atkins Party Planner Skill for Amazon Alexa is easy. All you have to do is enable the skill by saying “Alexa, enable Atkins Party Planner” or you can visit the activation link via Amazon.
Once the skill is enabled, actor and Atkins spokesman Rob Lowe will share some of his favorite recipes that are perfect for the big game without making you sacrifice healthier eating.
“Parties are often associated with high-carb, unhealthy foods,” Lowe said. “We tried to address this challenge with the Atkins Party Planner Skill for Amazon Alexa because we can offer low-carb swaps and delicious recipes in a fun manner as they interact with me through their own Alexa.”
Scott Parker, Atkins CMO, said the goal of teaming up with Amazon Alexa was to reach an audience looking for convenience while living a healthier life.
“We created the Atkins Party Planner Skill for Amazon Alexa to engage a younger audience,” Parker said. “Millennials use different technologies such as Alexa to get information. We know food is a popular part of the Big Game, so we are serving up easy-to-make, tasty low-carb recipe solutions to traditionally high-carb foods associated with parties.”
You’ll find six recipes that will have your guests cheering during the big game, including keto-friendly versions of classics like mac and cheese and spinach and artichoke dip as well as the following:
Pigs in a Blanket
Those tasty little hot dogs inside their crescent rolls are so fun but so high in carbs! You can still enjoy pigs in a blanket by exchanging out the typical bready outside with an easy-to-make rollup filled with cream cheese, coconut flour, mozzarella cheese, and egg! This offers a protein boost while being perfect for the party table.
Once you enable the Atkins Party Planner, Lowe offers a fun fact and tips on how to keep it keto. You can then say “Franks and blanks” to get the entire keto-friendly recipe above.
Pizza
What’s a big game party without pizza? But a crispy crust is usually high in carbs and not keto-friendly. Atkins’ website offers a cauliflower crust pizza that’s a cinch to make thanks to using frozen riced cauliflower and the rest of your typical ingredients including tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese and a variety of spices and seasonings.
Alexa offers a different option, though: in the Atkins Party Planner, say “Atkins pizza crust” to get a recipe for an herbed almond-parmesan pizza crust that will enhance your Game Day table for sure!
Jalapeno Poppers
This spicy snack is a crowd-pleaser and you’re going to want to make a mess of them to keep the party going! These jalapeno poppers are filled with gooey Monterey, cheddar and cream cheeses. And, to top them off: bacon!
Through Alexa, Lowe claims this is one of America’s all-time favorite party foods. Say “Gimme the low-carb poppers” to get this tasty recipe for your fryer. Yum!
Sandwiches
If you want to serve sandwiches but think you can’t because the bread isn’t keto-friendly, it’s time to think outside the box. Who says you have to have bread for a sandwich. We’ve shared this ingenious idea from My Skinny Sweet Tooth for using bell peppers as a substitute for the outside of a sandwich! The fresh pepper gives flavor and texture to an ordinary sandwich, which you can fille with keto-friendly items such as avocado!
If you must have bread, you can always try “cloud bread,” which is gluten-free and low-carb!
Beverages
Think you have to stick to water to drink to enjoy a keto-friendly meal? Nope! Certain alcoholic beverages, such as vodka, are not high in carbs at all and are the basis for delicious and refreshing drinks such as a Mixed Berry Prosecco Slushie. Or if you want something even more trendy, how about a Dill Pickle Martini?
And, if you’re looking to sweeten up your drink or any keto-friendly dish, remember sugar is NOT keto-friendly. You’ll need to use a substitute like erythritol in place of the sugar.
So, go ahead! Make all the goodies and enjoy them guilt-free!!
