KATC

Meteorologist and Multimedia Journalist

Jobie Lagrange is a South Louisiana native with a passion for weather and environmental storytelling. She earned her Associate of Physical Science degree from South Louisiana Community College in 2021. She then completed her Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2024, commuting daily from Broussard to Monroe for three years as it was the only school in the state with the program. This dedication reflects her commitment to advancing her career in meteorology and bringing valuable weather insights to her community.

Her experience includes studying under Rob Perillo at KATC and interning with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, where she gained hands-on skills in atmospheric data collection, localized forecasting, and hurricane communication strategies. Certified in launching hydrogen-filled weather balloons, Jobie Lagrange worked closely with emergency managers to enhance public awareness of severe weather impacts.

At KATC, Jobie Lagrange serves as both a meteorologist and MMJ, focusing on stories that educate the public on the impact of weather and climate. Her goal is to provide education and a voice to those in the community impacted by our environment. Outside of work, she enjoys being a mother to two amazing children, exploring natural phenomena such as storms, the northern lights, and eclipses, traveling, cooking, and video games.
