Of course, your infant is adorable — all babies are! But does your little one have what it takes to be the next Gerber Baby?
The baby nutrition brand is once again seeking a darling face to represent the company for the coming year, and there’s still time to enter.
History Of The Gerber Baby
The original Gerber Baby contest took place in 1928. Rather than submitting photos, artists entered their artwork for consideration. An artist named Dorothy Hope Smith entered a simple charcoal sketch that went up against intricate paintings. The endearing drawing of a baby, named Ann Turner, touched the judge’s hearts and the sketch represented the brand for nearly a century.
In 2010, the company decided to hold a contest again. The Gerber Photo Search has since become an annual contest, with the winning baby representing the brand for the year and also taking home impressive cash and prizes.
Gerber Photo Search 2020
For the 10th anniversary of the Photo Search contest, Gerber has updated the rules. Instead of just photos, you can now also submit videos of your baby. Only one child per family can enter (unless you are a parent of multiples). One photo is accepted per submission, along with a video one minute or less in length.
Check the complete contest rules to increase your chances of winning. For instance, any professional photos, collages and family photos entered will be disqualified.
Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:
- The child’s visual appeal in the photo or video;
- The child’s expressiveness in the photo, and
- Consistency with Gerber’s heritage and its “Anything for Baby” mission.
If you are the parent or guardian of a baby between 1 day and 48 months old, you can enter on Gerber’s official submission portal.
The grand prize winner will receive a check for $25,000.
