OPELOUSAS — The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating what local officials described as a "minor" fire on the roof of Opelousas General Hospital.

That fire started around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Amanda Fontenot, vice president of marketing for Opelousas General Health System, tells KATC around 30 patients were moved out of their rooms because of smoke entering the building. Those patients, according to Fontenot, are now housed in another part of the hospital. Fontenot says there's no timetable for when the patients will return to their original rooms.
