Just when we thought there was nothing cuter than newborn babies, a Pittsburgh hospital has taken adorable to galactic heights. The nurses at UPCM Magee-Women’s Hospital managed to simultaneously get into the holiday spirit and pay homage to the “Star Wars” universe by designing little outfits and hats inspired by the pop culture phenomenon “Baby Yoda.”
“Nobody likes to see anything more than a beautiful baby in a cute little outfit, so we routinely dress them up based on the time of year or the occasion we may be celebrating,” chief nursing officer Patty Genday told “Good Morning America.”
Here’s a glimpse of one teensy Baby Yoda, fast asleep:
For anyone not on social media, Baby Yoda (a.k.a. “The Child”) recently became the breakout character on the new Disney+ series “Star Wars: The Mandalorian.” While The Child is actually 50 years old in the series, these little ones — in their clever Baby Yoda Santa hats, crocheted by registered nurse Caitlin Pechin — are just days old and the “force of our future.”
Fortunately, after photographing the newborns, hospital staff shared the snapshots on Facebook. The photo collection has since gone viral.
Check out this little one. Is it just us, or does he have Baby Yoda’s chin?
The festive onesies feature a variety of season’s greetings, written out “Yoda-style.” With phrases such as “Cute I Am” and “Merry Must I Be,” the onesies totally capture Yoda’s personality.
Combining holiday cheer and “Star Wars” this season makes total sense with the final film of the Skywalker saga — “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” — scheduled for release on Friday, Dec. 20. What a fun way to celebrate the newest arrivals at the hospital and for the silver screen!
One set of parents couldn’t believe their luck with the “Star Wars” photoshoot. Sean and Bri McGowan, parents of newborn Jackson River, love both Disney and “Star Wars,” and spent the days leading up to their son’s birth watching all of the “Star Wars” movies. The first time Bri saw “The Mandalorian,” she announced that she wanted a Baby Yoda of her very own.
“I said, ‘Wait a month or two,'” Sean told “Good Morning America.” “‘You’re probably going to have a baby soon!’”
