A fairly strong cold front will push through the area tonight bringing a line of showers and thunderstorms. A few of these storms may be strong to severe with gusty winds being the main threat to Acadiana. The northern parishes, including areas along and north of US 190 have a better chance for the severe weather, including an isolated tornado. So far this afternoon, Tornado Watches have remained north of the area.
The front will reach the northern sections of Acadiana during the early evening hours, then progress across the region tonight. It's expected to reach the coast sometime after midnight. Cooler air, on northerly breezes will then filter in. Skies are expected to clear on Sunday with temperatures holding in the mid 60s. We are expecting temperatures to drop for Sunday night, and early week temperatures will be chilly. At least there will be sunshine for Monday and Tuesday.
