There’s a new group of rich kids in town.
“Gossip Girl” is being rebooted!
WarnerMedia, the same group taking “Friends” back from Netflix, will make the show available on HBO Max, a streaming service expected to launch in 2020. No release date for “Gossip Girl” has been announced.
The new “Gossip Girl” TV show picks up eight years after the original series went dark. It features private school teens in Manhattan who deal with the current landscape of social media in their lives.
The teens are rich, of course.
E! News confirmed the reboot and says the series will have a different plot than the original. It also will show just how much New York has changed in the years since the original “Gossip Girl” characters were around.
We can’t wait to enjoy the plot twists that will take place on the Upper East Side!
Ten new episodes are confirmed and will be produced by original series creators Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz, in addition to original executive producer Joshua Safran.
There is no word as to whether there will be any original “Gossip Girl” cast members in the reboot. But we hope so … we followed them for six years in their schemes and on-and-off-again romances!
We’re wondering if the reboot will keep a light shining on the latest fashion trends: The characters played by Blake Lively, Leighton Meester and the other actors definitely wore some incredible apparel and accessories during the late 2000s through early 2010s.
“Gossip Girl” is based on the book series by Cecily von Ziegesar. The original show ran for six seasons on the CW, from 2007-2012.
While the series isn’t being rebooted on the CW, another series has been. “Charmed” originally aired on the WB from 1998 to 2006.
The “Charmed” reboot began airing in 2018 and had 22 episodes in its first season.
Another reboot we’re stoked about? “Beverly Hills 90210”! It will air on FOX and feature most of the original characters. We can’t wait to be back inside the Peach Pit with Brandon, Brenda and the gang!
What TV series reboot are you looking most forward to watching?
