It’s official: After weeks of anticipation, we have our first personal family photo of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, the newest addition to the British royal family.
In honor of Father’s Day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex posted a picture of little Archie on their official Instagram account, @sussexroyal. And, of course, he is snuggled in his daddy’s arms.
Born on May 6, Archie is just a little over 6 weeks old. Although official photographs were taken of the new family during a photocall with reporters in May, this is the first time that the royals have shared their own private photos of Archie. And what a sweet photo it is.
When Archie was just about a week old, we did get a peep of his sweet little feet on the couple’s Instagram.

The photo was posted on Mother’s Day, with this caption reading in part, “Paying tribute to all mothers today – past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered. We honor and celebrate each and every one of you.”
But this newest picture is the first time we have been given an up-close-and-personal look of his face.
People are already pointing out how much Archie looks like his parents, with People.com creating a royal side-by-side photo comparison to help us decipher who the wee one most resembles. Of course, both of his parents are stunning, so Archie is sure to be a winner in that department!
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently planning little Archie’s christening. It is expected that Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby (pictured below) will be the clergy official who christens the newest royal.
It was Archbishop Welby who baptized Markle into the Anglican Church before joining the royal family, and he also had the honor of marrying the young couple in May 2018.
Markle is currently on her maternity leave and spending quality time with her family. A beaming Markle told reporters that she has the “two best guys in the world.”
She also reported that Archie is a laid-back, lovebug of a baby.
“He has the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm,” said Markle about her son. “He’s just been a dream.”
In addition to sharing photos of little Archie on both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, the couple also shared an image of their baby’s introduction to the queen.
The photo was shared along with the announcement of Archie’s name.
The duke and duchess have been married for a little over a year after tying the knot at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
They noted their anniversary on Instagram with a touching video of their wedding day.
“Happy one year anniversary to Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex!” the caption read.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
