Evacuations have been issued for some parishes in Acadiana ahead of Hurricane Ida.
ACADIA PARISH
Starting immediately Acadia Parish government is issuing a voluntary evacuation order for lower / flood prone areas of the parish.
JEFF DAVIS PARISH
A voluntary evacuation has been issued for low-lying areas of Jeff Davis Parish. No transportation will be provided. Anyone with special needs or requirements, call 211 for information.
IBERIA PARISH
Iberia Parish President M. Larry Richard is recommending that all residents of Iberia Parish consider voluntarily evacuating as soon as possible, especially those:
* Living in areas vulnerable to potential storm surges, including, but not limited to the area West of U. S. Highway 90 and South of Louisiana Highway 14; which area is more particularly displayed on the map attached hereto;
* Living in low-lying areas along lakes, bayous, streams and drainage structures that have experienced flooding in the past;
* Living in a structure that has experienced flooding following heavy rain events;
* Without hurricane-safe housing;
* Having special medical needs; and/or
* Having special transportation needs
Richard urges all residents to check their emergency supplies, create a protective plan of action for their families and pets and continue to monitor Iberia PINS (Parish Information Notification System) and our local news media for future weather updates.
Those residents that wish to evacuate should begin that process immediately. Residents who choose to remain behind may find themselves without power and unable to be rescued, provided with lifesaving assistance or leave the area due to high winds, floodwaters and storm debris.
ST MARTIN PARISH
St. Martin Parish President Chester Cedars has signed a voluntary evacuation order for residents of Lower St. Martin Parish (Stephensville/Belle River) due to the possible threat of high water as a result of Hurricane Ida.
ST. MARY PARISH
UPDATE: Due to the threat of Hurricane Ida, St. Mary Parish President David Hanagriff has issued a voluntary evacuation for all of St. Mary Parish starting at 6 p.m. Friday, August 27.
A MANDATORY EVACUATION has been issued for all areas south of the Intracoastal Waterway, including Burns Point and Cypremort Point effective Saturday, August 28, at 8 a.m.

A voluntary evacuation has been issued for Morgan City as of 6 P.M. August 27, 2021.
Residents who require power or have special medical needs are urged to evacuate.
There will be no shelters in the city, and Oschner St. Mary can only accept "dire need" patients due to Covid.
CALCASIEU PARISH
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury President Brian Abshire signed a Proclamation of a State of Emergency as well as an Executive Order imposing a voluntary evacuation for Calcasieu Parish residents due to anticipated high winds and rain associated with Hurricane Ida.
Calcasieu residents without transportation who wish to evacuate in advance of Hurricane Ida can be taken by transit services to Burton Coliseum from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28.
The evacuees will be transported to a congregate shelter where they will stay for the duration of the storm. Hotel rooms will not be available.
The voluntary evacuation is recommended because many residents are in temporary housing due to the 2020 hurricanes, which may not offer necessary protection from the effects of Ida.
Calcasieu Parish residents who need transportation should report to one of the following sites:
• Bell City Fire Station, 8141 Galley Road
• DeQuincy: Southeast corner of LA 27 and LA 12
• Carlyss: Stine Parking Lot, LA. 27 South
• Iowa High School Stadium Parking Lot, 401 W. Miller Ave.
• Moss Bluff Tractor Supply, 181 US 171
• Starks VFW, 4402 LA 12
• Sulphur: Kroger Parking Lot, 1421 S. Beglis Parkway
• Vinton: Love's Travel Stop, 2024A West St.
• Westlake Recreation Center, 1221 Sampson St.
Parish transit buses will stop at each location hourly from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday only for pickups. City of Lake Charles buses will be running regular routes during these hours and will pick up evacuees at city bus stops.
Residents who are unable to get to a pickup location may call 211 to request assistance with transportation. Call 337-721-3800 or 211 for information. People with transportation may drive to Burton to evacuate.
Accredited media wishing to visit the site must contact 337-802-9560 in advance to gain access.
VERMILION PARISH
The Vermilion Parish Police Jury President has issued a Mandatory Evacuation for Special Needs Patients South of Hwy 14 ***ONLY*** All special needs patients evacuating must be at Maurice Community Care Clinic by 4:00pm Saturday, August 28th to be transported to a special needs shelter up north.
The Vermilion Parish Police Jury President has issued a Voluntary Evacuation for low lying areas below Hwy 14. Again, this is NOT a mandatory evacuation.
Only Voluntary.
