AMC Theaters are bringing classic Disney movie magic back to the big screen for a limited time. So, if you have a princess-lover in your house, get ready to mark your calendars with some upcoming movie nights!
As part of AMC Theaters’ Dream Big, Princess program, cinemas around the country will show four of Disney’s iconic princess films this month. Some of these movies have not been seen on the big screen in years, so these special events would be the perfect opportunity for the family to enjoy a night of fun and adventure.
Each week, a different princess movie will make a royal appearance at AMC Theaters around the country. Visit the official AMC website to find your closest location and buy your tickets in advance for this powerhouse princess lineup!
‘The Little Mermaid’—Sept. 6-12
Screenings of “The Little Mermaid” will be shown at AMC theaters from Sept. 6 to Sept. 12. The story of Ariel and her dreams of living in the human world is filled with some of the most popular songs in the Disney catalog.
“The Little Mermaid” has been getting a lot of buzz lately as a live-action version of the film, starring 19-year-old Halle Bailey as Ariel, is getting ready to start production soon.
‘Beauty And The Beast’—Sept. 13-19
The original, animated version of this “tale as old as time” will grace AMC screens again in the middle of September. The 1991 movie tells the fairy tale of a beautiful girl who saves her father from a beast and helps to break a wicked spell that’s been cast on the beast’s castle.
The “Be Our Guest” scene on a giant screen should be amazing to watch once again!
‘Tangled’—Sept. 20-26
Rapunzel might have been depicted as a damsel in distress when the original fairy tale was first published, but Disney’s “Tangled” adds some fun and adventurous twists to the story. Mandy Moore voices the princess looking to find life outside her lonely tower.
‘The Princess And The Frog’—Sept. 27-Oct. 3
Tiana doesn’t start out as a princess. She’s simply a hardworking young woman who waits tables and longs to own her own restaurant in her beloved New Orleans. One night, Tiana meets a frog who thinks she is a princess, and the frog begs Tiana for a kiss to turn him back into a prince. When the unexpected happens after the kiss, Tiana and the prince are in a race against time to break a spell which stands in their way of true happiness.
Enjoying Movies at Home
Sometimes it’s much more enjoyable to watch a family flick from the comfort of your own den. Fortunately for you, the TV channel Freeform is hosting “30 Days of Disney” throughout the month of September!
Each week will have a separate theme, allowing them to feature your favorite Disney pirates, villains and sheroes. It will include, of course, all the classics.
According to Freeform, the Disney movies will air Monday through Friday each week. Upcoming weeks include:
Sept. 16–Sept. 20: Singalong Week
Freeform will have you belting out celebrated Disney songs from “The Princess and the Frog,” “High School Musical,” “Newsies: The Broadway Musical” and others. Select movies will feature on-screen lyrics.
Sept. 23–Sept. 27: Sheroes
Fans can root for their favorite sheroes in such movies as Disney’s “Moana” and Disney’s “Zootopia,” among many of your Disney faves.
As if these films weren’t enough to satisfy Disney fans, Freeform will also air a behind-the-scenes look at the new lands at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in Southern California. These sneak peeks will be featured in a two-hour special, “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Adventure Awaits.”
The special premieres at 8 p.m. Eastern on Sept. 29. Learn how the new planet of Batuu came to life!
Freeform says the special includes celebrity guests Kaley Cuoco, Keegan-Michael Key, Jay Leno, Sarah Hyland, Miles Brown and others.
Walt Disney Imagineers and Disney Cast Members will share how they helped bring Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to life with insider details.
“The special will follow Neil Patrick Harris as he meets up with Keegan-Michael Key for some laughs in Oga’s Cantina and takes a tour of Batuu,” reads Freeform’s news release. “Sarah Hyland learns about the tensions between the First Order and the Resistance and creates her own droid at the Droid Depot. Jay Leno explores Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, inside and out, and Kaley Cuoco takes a special sneak peek inside the incredible upcoming attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.”
Clear your calendars, everyone — you’ve got a lot of Disney to watch!
