There are plenty of people who find retirement allusive. But for Eldridge Indest, his really hasn’t been going according to plan.
“Enjoying the golden years of my life playing golf and fishing, I never imagined I’d be here at this point,” Eldridge said sitting at the bar of Preservation Bar and Grill in New Iberia.
The point that Eldridge was referring to was being one of the owners of that bar, getting into the restaurant business with his son who acts as executive chef.
A successful career in the oil field gave him the means to make the move despite never really having an interest in running a restaurant in the first place.
While his son runs the kitchen his daughter helps out in the front making Preservations a true family business, something he said is both fun and challenging.
“It’s great when we get along. When we don’t get along it’s not so great.”
His hope is that the restaurant gets to a place when he can step away. Retirement is calling…for real this time.
