Performances begin on Friday for Frozen Jr. presented by Wonderland Performing Arts.
Students will present four shows based on the popular Disney film at Acadiana Center for the Arts this weekend.
The curtain rises at 7:00 pm Friday night and tickets are still available online or at the ACA box office.
The show will put a spin on the now classic tale of the bond of sisterhood. Artistic Director Allison Barron says that students have been working on the show since September and are excited to finally share in their hard work.
"I like to hand a kid a script, even if it's a very familiar script. And really encourage them to look at it with fresh eyes," she says. "I don't want them imitating something that they've seen in the cartoon or on TV, or even another actor do. I want them to come to that story in a very honest, original way."
The performances are the first time that Wonderland Performing Arts students will take the stage at ACA.
And Barron says she hopes that her students take away more from the performances than just the joy of acting.
"It's not just putting on a costume and fixing your hair a certain way and getting out there and saying lines and singing songs," she says. "It's really about a sense of family, belonging and community. That's what makes me do this over and over again."
